BodyVibe is a conscious dance gathering where participants explore intuitive movement as they go on a musical journey together. Intuitive movement is a practice of connecting and listening to your body to figure out how it feels and what type of movement it would enjoy the most. The musical journey will start off with calm soundscapes to fully arrive in the space and gradually wake up the body. The music will gradually get more energetic with higher tempos and dynamic rhythms. We will enjoy this fun dance music for the majority of the dance. And then the music will gradually become more calm and we’ll end with soothing soundscapes. The genres will include electronic dance music, nu disco, electro funk and meditative soundscapes.

The space will be very colorful with uplights that glow like thick stalks of flowers that gradually change in color. If you’ve ever seen the movie Avatar, the vibe is going to be like an inflorescent nightclub in the woods of Pandora. We will have a welcome circle where I will welcome everybody and describe the dance experience that we are about to share.

I’ll share that this is a substance free dance gathering and that we practice consent when we would like to dance with each other. Each person will have the opportunity to share their name and one word that describes what they desire from the dance experience that we are about to share. I will lead everybody in activities to explore intuitive movement. And then we will have intuitive dance journeys together.

Here’s a little bit about me:

Hello! I’m Avalon, I graduated with a bachelor’s in dance from the University of New Mexico in 2013. While in college I focused on solo and group improvisation. After I graduated I performed with an improvisational dance and theatre company called Ecotone. I toured with a couple shows and taught workshops and dance classes at local studios, universities and community dance gatherings.

Also shortly after I graduated college, I started my career as a mobile DJ in 2014. I’ve DJ’ed concerts, ecstatic dances, private parties, weddings, cultural events, fundraisers, nightclubs, you name it. Dance and music are two of my biggest passions and I’m

really excited to share these passions with you!
